Corporate Greed Hurts Small Business Owners

I am not usually one to rant about corporations making money. However, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! I believe in the free enterprise system. But sometimes companies think that they have the right to do whatever they want and the consumer of their products have to take it.

What started me in this mood was Ebay raising their fees - AGAIN. There's not a thing that we as small business owners can do about it. Although there are several alternative auction sites, none of them have the power of EBAY.

I make a few hundred dollars extra a month selling items on Ebay, just like many of you and I am not one of the powersellers, although I have sold quite a few items. And now they want to raise fees on stores again.

The raises are from 250% to 400%. Wouldn't it be nice to give yourself a 400% raise and your boss could not stop you.

But EBay is not the only company that is gouging the small business owner. Look at the gas companies making 19 billion dollars in one quarter and then they lower the price by a few cents and the consumer is happy and tell others "hey, gas has gone down." When what we really ought to be saying is "Someone build us a car that doesn't use gas, that is affordable, and will go as well as gas powered cars and we will buy it." Or someone build us an auction site that someone can make some money on and we will use it.

Then and only then will companies get the message that consumers rule the marketplace, not the other way around.
